the skill nor the attention span to do 20, so I did 10 instead.
Summary: 10 Things about Gaignun...not necessarily canon.
**
1.
He stopped thinking of himself as Nigredo just before he turned sixteen. He had
always had more similarities than differences with his 'brother', but when he
grew tall enough to look down at Rubedo, he could no longer reconcile being URTV
unit 669 with the reflection in the mirror.
2.
For the same reason, he never teased Jr. about his height. He will, however,
tease him ruthlessly about his obsession with weapons and books, about MOMO,
about his recklessness. So much so that Jr. had pulled guns on him before, even
if he never actually fired anything.
3.
Mary and Shelley were sisters, mothers, and convenient trophy girlfriends (in
the eyes of the paparazzi, anyway) all in one. He had long given up on making
them stop calling him 'Master' Gaignun. Just the mere fact that they refused to
stop was enough to convince him that he was not their master in anything.
4.
To this day, he did not like to use guns. Jr. thought that his distaste was part
of his cover--the Director of the Kukai Foundation already had a fine line to
tread with the Federation without appearing to be a weapons enthusiast. It was a
useful fiction that he didn't dispute.
5.
Citrine's words occasionally floated to the front of his mind, and each time was
as unsettling as the first. After all, his father never did anything without a
plan and a purpose. Having seen the monster his brother housed, he could imagine
Yuriev would have considered a backup plan in case his weapon ever went out of
control.
6.
He fought battles with words and wit at home while his brother went out and
fought with bullets and battleships. It felt strangely wrong to not have Albedo
with them, despite everything he had done. But Gaignun supposed it was a good
thing, since he already had his hands full dealing with just Jr.
7.
The first time he heard, he nearly laughed. Jr.'s eyebrow twitched.
"It isn't funny." He was told. His brother's fingers were twitching too, very
close to the hip holsters covered by the long coat.
Gaignun wasn't sure which was funnier, that people thought Jr. was his clone, or
that they thought he was an illegitimate son.
8.
Mary's accent was getting thicker as she rambled on, and Shelley had toyed with
the sleeve of her dress for the fifth time in the last three minutes. As for
him, he just finished resorting all his emails into the appropriate folders.
Jr. told them they were being idiots, but that did not make it any easier to
watch him disappear into the Elsa, on his way to Proto Merkabah.
9.
The migraines came more frequently now, though thankfully it only happened when
he was alone. That in and of itself was suspicious, but he didn't have time to
let it worry him. There were plenty of things in the universe more dangerous
than the Gnosis, and his brother was out picking a fight with every one of them.
10.
In the end, he never could make a final decision. Who was more monstrous? The
monster...or the man that created him?
