First and Second Conjugations: Future and Imperfect; Adjectives in -er. To the tune of Amazing Grace: Imperfect, add '-BA-' Except for 'they will', then instead '-BU-' is what you say! This leaves out the finicky things you do in the first person. You can remember those with the following, which is an inscription for the inside of a wedding ring: Te semper amabam, te semper amabo. - "I have always loved you. I will always love you." Aww. For second declension '-er' adjectives, remember the same as you do for second declension '-er' nouns; the song still works, just put '-er' instead of '-us'. As for remembering where the 'r's stay and go, you're on your own. The difference between 'liber - free' and 'liber - book', however, is easy! For LIBERTY, you keep the E! For LIBRARY, you don't!. And another little bit of vocabulary I can help you with: the adverbial yesterday, today, and tomorrow are heri, hodie, and cras, respectively: YESTERDAY you were a HERETIC; TODAY you wore a HOODIE; TOMORROW you'll be CRASS. The fact that it doesn't make any sense almost makes it easier to remember. |
