Mom's Pie Crust





This is how my mom always made pie crust. She says that's because it's how her mom always made it. Mine of course isn't as good as theirs. Pie crusts are one of those 'diminishing returns' things, apparently.

INGREDIENTS

2 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup shortening
1 egg
2 tbsp cold water
1 tbsp white vinegar

Mix flour and salt, then mash the shortening in with a fork. In another bowl, beat the egg and pour the water and vinegar in - mix these together and pour over the flour mixture, then mash it up again. Divide in half, and roll out on a well-floured surface.
